Water stewardship represents a holistic approach to water management. In particular, it includes going ‘beyond the fence’ (of a factory or farm) to understand the interactions with the wider environment and local communities. In addition to ‘on-site’ water risks, it is important to understand (1) the impacts and risks from the site to the external environment and communities, and (2) the impacts anda risks to the site from the external environment. Then you will have the knowledge to understand ‘shared water challenges’ within the catchment and to implement actions and project partnerships to mitigate those risks and challenges.
